Last week, Michigan was hit with rainy, cold weather. We had to find many ways to keep ourselves busy. So one day this weekend, we decided to make oobleck. Oobleck is a mixture of cornstarch, water, and a bit of green food coloring. It is both a liquid and a solid and is a lot of fun to play with! Tommy absolutely loved it. He would squeeze it in his hands, which would make the oobleck hard, and then open his hand and the oobleck would become a liquid. Needless to say, it was getting pretty messy in the kitchen, so we did end up playing with it outside. This was a great way to pass the time though when the weather isn't great!

Rainy Day Fun
It's been raining in Michigan for the past week, so we've been doing lots of crafts to pass the time during the day. One afternoon we decided to water color. We then glued fruit loops on our picture. Tommy told me he drew a pirate ship with Captain Hook on it and Tinker Bell flying in the air. I must say he is getting better about taking his time with his art work. Usually after one minute I will hear, "I all done, Mommy!!" However, painting and gluing seems to occupy him!

Safety Day!
The MOMS Club had a Safety Day the other day. A fire truck, ambulance, and police car all came to a park. The kids were able to sit in all the different vehicles. The firefighters at our local station are so great with kids. One firefighter took Tommy aside and starting showing him the air tanks they have in the truck, and then he put him right in the driver's seat! Then, another firefighter put on all his gear and explained to the kids not to be afraid if they ever see someone dressed like that in their house, they are there to help. Earlier this summer when we visited the fire station, Tommy was a bit scared to get in the trucks. Not this day, he loved them all. He really liked the ambulance, I think because he was able to get in and out of it on his own. What a fun day!

Police Station Tour
The other day we went on the tour of the local police station with the MOMS Club. The kids were able to see and even sit in a police car. Safety Pup also made an appearance! Tommy loved sitting in the car...let's hope that's the last time he's in a police car!

Beach Day with Friends!
The weather in Michigan has been perfect for hitting the beach! So, we got together with a bunch of our friends and had a great beach day. Tommy had fun playing in the sand and of course he loved playing in the water. We are lucky that Lake Michigan is so close, it always makes for a great day!

Peach Picking!
This past week we went peach picking with a few other moms from the MOMS Club. Here are some pictures from the event.
Peach Picking (continued)
Peach picking wouldn't be complete without making peach cobbler. Tommy was a huge help making it. All I had to do was measure out the ingredients for him and he went to work. You'll notice he had a very interesting way to put the butter in pan in the video. Luckily, I remembered to wash his hands before we began! Anyways, it turned out delicious!

Horse Farm Visit
A few days ago we visited a local horse stable with the MOMS Club. We got to see many of the horses they will be showing in the county fair that is coming up. A brave few even got to pet the horses. Tommy preferred just to look at them. He also loved the cats in the stable. Of course our visit wouldn't be complete if we didn't visit the tractors out back! Brady, Casey, and Tommy had fun sitting in the tires!

Nonni and Poppy T. Come to Michigan!
Nonni and Poppy T. came to visit us in Michigan. We had a blast! We kept busy by visiting the Curious Kid's Museum, picking fresh fruit and veggies, taking a day trip to Holland, visiting Notre Dame, and of course going to the beach! I think the highlight of the visit was heading down to Silver Beach in the late afternoon, having pizza on the beach and watching the sunset. You couldn't ask for a more perfect evening. Thanks for the visit, Nonni and Poppy T!

Happy 5 Year Anniversary!!
I can't believe it's already been 5 years. If you told me 5 years ago that we would have moved 3 times, had a wonderful 2 year old son and expecting a second son, I don't think I would have believed you! It's been a crazy, fun-filled 5 years. One thing that hasn't changed over the 5 years we have been married and the 9 years we have been together is your knack for making me laugh. We have so much fun together no matter what the circumstance. I know that will continue throughout our whole marriage because you truly are my best friend. I couldn't do any of this without you. We make a great team and will for many years to come!
